How to Get Involved
Join Our Roster
You can join our roster to receive screened client referrals If you’re a practicing member in good standing with either the Law Society of BC or the Society of Notaries Public of BC, or if you’re otherwise licensed to practice law in BC.
We refer British Columbians to legal professionals according to how their needs match up with lawyer, notary or paralegal profiles, particularly their areas of practice and geographic location.
Join our roster now by taking a few minutes to fill out our LRS Legal Professional Application Form.
Set Up Your Profile
When you fill out our Legal Professional Application Form, you select your preferences for the frequency and type(s) of client referrals you wish to receive. Your stated preferences help us to provide high quality referrals that match your service intentions.
Your profile settings and preferences include:
- Areas of practice (for which you wish to accept referrals)
- Geographic location
- Languages spoken
- Willingness to provide unbundled legal services
- Willingness to receive client referrals from our LRS Coordinators or client online self-referrals or both
- Desired frequency of referrals
Serve LRS Clients
Once we provide your contact information to an LRS user as their assigned legal professional, it’s their responsibility to contact you directly to schedule a consultation. You’ll receive immediate notification of the client referral, and you’ll have the opportunity to accept or decline the referral for conflicts or other reasons.
Once scheduled, we ask that you provide 15 to 30 minutes of free consultation to your client. It will help them to better identify and understand their legal issues, and decide whether they wish to retain you on a paid basis. You’re welcome to provide legal advice during the consultation (though it’s not necessary), and you’re welcome to charge for your time beyond 30 minutes.
